Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 June 2026
ParkingQuest ("the app", "we", "us") helps you monitor real-time occupancy of Transport for NSW car parks and shows status updates via notifications, the Dynamic Island, and Live Activities. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
We do not sell your data, show advertising, use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, or track you across other apps or websites.
Information we collect
To deliver push and Live Activity updates for the car parks and schedules you choose, the app sends the following to our backend service (api.parkingquest.app, hosted on Cloudflare Workers):
- Device identifier — a random identifier generated by the app. It is not your name, email, Apple ID, advertising identifier, or
identifierForVendor. It is stored on-device in app storage that is removed when you delete the app, so it resets on reinstall. - Push notification token / Live Activity tokens — provided by Apple Push Notification service, used solely to deliver the updates you requested.
- Your configuration — the car park IDs you choose to monitor, your monitoring schedule (time windows / days), and your device timezone.
- Basic device details — your device model (e.g. "iPhone16,1"), operating system version, and the app version. We use these only to support the app, diagnose issues, and plan platform support; they are not used to track or identify you.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise GPS location, browsing history, or any advertising identifiers.
How we use it
- To send notifications and Live Activity / Dynamic Island updates for the car parks and times you configured.
- To fetch current occupancy data from the Transport for NSW Open Data API on your behalf.
We use this data only to operate the app's core functionality. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
Data sharing
- Transport for NSW Open Data API — the app requests publicly available car park occupancy data. Your personal configuration is not shared with Transport for NSW.
- Apple Push Notification service — used to deliver notifications, as required for any iOS push functionality.
We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Data retention
Your device registration (identifier, push token, selected car parks, schedule, timezone) is retained on our backend only while your device is registered. When you remove all car parks, disable monitoring, or delete the app, the corresponding registration is removed. The on-device identifier is deleted when you delete the app.
Your choices
- You can stop all data transmission by removing your selected car parks / schedules or by deleting the app.
- Notifications can be disabled at any time in iOS Settings.
Children
ParkingQuest is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date.
